re: Samuel ADAIR bc 1735, (son of William, per will), m. 3/10/1760 in New Castle Co. Delaware to Ann Aiken (per Del. History and Recall). Children:(per Samuel's will) Margaret, Elizabeth, Alexander, Mary, Agness, Jemima, Samuel, and William.
His siblings (all b. in Ireland / Scotland ?) were: John, Jean, William, (diary ?) Margaret, Rose Ann, James, (m. Stedham) Robert.
Wonder ifMatthew Aiken (below) was related through marriage to the Adair family :
Scharf, Thomas J., History of Delaware, 1609-1888. Volume Two- pp. 854-880. CHAPTER XLVIII. PENCADER HUNDRED. The population steadily increased, and in 1798 the following names were on the assessment list as taxables: Matthew Aiken, Esq. William Adair’s estate http://www.accessible.com/amcnty/DE/Delaware/delaware48.htmhttp://www.accessible.com/amcnty/DE/Delaware/delaware48.htm
Loyd, Thankyou for all your information. I have not read the above Diary, is William one of your relatives ? I am very interested in the birthplace of Samuel and siblings, so please excuse me if I have repeated anything. There were Samuel Adairs in Dublin, Ireland, perhaps relative of a Rose or Rosanna Adair, so will see if there was a connection.
Has anyone a Rose or Rose Ann or Rosanna Adair in their lineage ?Thankyou.
