The other day I picked up a brochure, "Adairsville", at a Georgia welcome center.Information therein stated ;
"First known as the Oothcalooga Village, Adairsville was founded in the 1820's by Scotish pioneers who lived peacefully with native Cherokee Indains.The town was named for John Adair, a Scottish settler who became a chief of the local Cherokee tribe. "
