RECORDS OF JOHN PICKENS AT NATCHEZ: August 12, 1786- A circular of Don Carlos de Grand Pre, the Governor was issued addressed to a large number of leading men considered influential in the Territory. Among them were: JOHN PICKENS, John Ford, Israel Leonard, John & James Swayze, John Martin, John Coleman, et al. 29 in all. -------------- June 25, 1787 - JOHN PICKENS versus John Wood who is indebted to him for $8.00. Wood was notified.July 26, Aug 10 1787 & Jan 5 1788. Roswell Mygert then 'went to the cliffs and brought Wood to the fort.' December 12, 1788 - Sale of horses belonging to JOHN PICKENS and Richard KING. Buyers were Thomas LOYD security for Prosper KING: ROBERT MILLER was security for JOHN PICKENS..... It may be that the buyers had to give a security to the sellers until the deal was finalized, but then the wording states "for" instead of "to" ?
