Was it a Mr. Hicks who wrote that James Adair returned from England ?Mr. Hicks also wrote that John Adair m. Jennie Kilgore, an Indian (but this may be incorrect). Would Mr. Hicks be related to Charles Hicks (below) ?

Return J Miegs or the proper authority, such sum or sums of money as is due my son James Adair, deceased, for his services to the United States, for a tour of duty performed against the hostile Creeks under the command of Captain David McNair of said nation.
