re: Betham's entry for Adair/Foulke. The only possibilty I can venture is that my ancestor, Capt. Andrew Adair bc 1617 (son of Bishop Archibald Adair bc 1570, son of Ninian Adair) is noted to have married Mary Conway Loftus. (Playfair's book "British Antiquity" c.1805 edit.?)
In the History of Ballinderry it states that from the 17th century the Parish of Ballinderry was part of the estate owned by the Conways. The first Lord Conway was Edward, the brother of Fulke Conway who had been granted the land by James 1.
There was govt. correspondence in the (mid-1600s ?) from Conway Lord Killultagh re Adair /Adare who may have been a personal chaplain of his wife. From memory, the Rosemary Street Church, Antrim, may also have been mentioned.
On the PRONI website there is a townland of Derrykillultagh, showing as key # 14 for their map (refer Civil Parish of Ballinderry, co. Antrim, N. Ireland c.1850).However, I could not see it on their map. It would be interesting to know if Rev. Patrick Adair was on townland of Derrykillultagh about that time. Would he have mentioned this in his book ?
Would anyone in Ireland know if there are any Adairs mentioned perhaps in a history of this Parish ? Perhaps they may be connected to the Mussenden family ?
