Dave, I don't know if James Adair, Sr. is related to your William Adair or not. The James Adair who married Eleanor seems to be the father of James Adair who married Hannah by process of elimination of the men who were living in Duncan Creek in Laurens County, SC. There was no will for either James or his wife, Eleanor. James Adair, Sr. received a land grant in 1768 to land in Union County, SC according to Mildred Brownlee's info on the Adairs of Laurens County. Deeds say he also had received land in 1774 too. So it is possible that he could be the James Adair who arrive in S.C. prior to 1763 or 1764. There were so many Adairs. I can't help but think they are all related some way because of some of thesame names used in the different Adair families. James & Hannah Adair also had a daughter named Mary Adair b: c 1771 but she married John Prator. (These are my husband's ancestors). Mildred Brownlee thought James Adair, Sr. & Joseph Adair, Sr. were brothers as they were both coopers. Joseph Adair, Sr. also had a son named James Adair too. There is also the James Adair who was the Indian Trader but this is another James. False info gets out there so you have to watch out for that. Some people assume if it is written down that it is fact but I know that isn't the case sometimes and I've seen this with the Adair line too. It makes it all the more confusing.
