I read your message where you said that William ADAIR b. 1799 in "Laurens Co. SC".Do you know which ADAIR family in Laurens Co. he came from?
The reason I ask is because I've been trying for years to find his familyand have been unable to document him before he arrived in Henry Co. GA.I've lost count of the number of researchers that have "told me" that this William ADAIR was a brother to my GG Grandfather,James ADAIR b. 08 Jun 1790 in York Co. SC that arrived in Henry Co. GA before 21 May 1822.I have yet to find any kind of proof that the two ADAIR'S were brothers.
In the 1830 Henry Co. GA original census records I found that James Adair (b. 1790) was on Ancestry.com's On-Line census (actual census pages) on Image85 and William Adair b. 1799 on Image 17 which makes me think that they did not live near each other in Henry Co. GA..........and this also makes me think they were NOTbrothers.........Ithought they would live close to each other if they were brothers.........just my own idea, but I have never seen James & William living next door or close to each other like James (b. 1790) two sons, John Smith Adair and Andrew Jackson Adair did when they were neighbors in MS.
The only hope that I have that William b. 1799 was a s/o Jean (Faries) Adair & John Adair of York Co. SC is the fact that in 1810 census, there was a son born to this couple in the time frame of 1799, but of course this is not proofthat William b. 1799 was a son of Jean Faires & John Adair.
Several years ago I corresponded with a Rooker Family researcher and he said his family did not know who was the father of William Adair that married Susannah Davis Rooker. They did share some of their Rooker information with me but I found no proof that William was a brother to James Adair b. 1790.I was told an oral story handed down that said"William went back to York Co. to marry his old sweetheart"but that is no proof to me that he was from York Co. SC so I'm still looking for something that indicates if the two could be brothers.
I just thought I'd ask if you had any ideas to share with me.
