John Fisher Adair, s/o John Adair and Jane Fisher Jones, seems to have been married to three women in Georgia at roughly the same time; Talitha Brantley in 1815, Mary Slaven about 1815 and widow Crews before 1820. I saw a marriage reference for his marriage to Talitha Brantley on 13 August 1811 on the Morgan County GenWeb site before it was taken down (!) this week. But it gave no marriage book number or page number. I've also seen this marriage (Brantley-Fisher) listed as taking place in October 1815. Poor John Fisher Adair was also supposed to be married to Mary Slaven about this same time - I've seen dates between 1815 and 1821. And she is supposed to have died in 1835 and had a bunch of children with John in the interim. Then there's widow Crews who comes into the picture somewhere and giving birth to two sons. Does anyone have any concrete proof of this man's marriages? I know he's buried in Dekalb County, Georgia and his marker is the same as that of a Mary Rudvel Adair, but it sure doesn't give marriage dates. Do we have more than one John Fisher Adair?
My Talitha Adair (b. about 1820) is supposed to have been the d/o John Fisher Adair. If John was, indeed, married to a Talitha Brantley I would assume she was the mother of my Talitha. I would think it odd if a second wife named a child after the dead first wife, but who knows?
Talitha Adair married Bailey Estes, probably in Henry County, Georgia, and probably around 1835.
Can anyone help me figure out if she was really the d/o John Fisher Adair, and if so, which one of these wives was her mother?
