You are welcome, Tara.I keep hoping for more time on this one someday.I think the Montgomery Co. court records may be on microfilm at the Library of VA.The "legend" is that David had a relation that fought with Sumpter in SC.....The John & Matthias Mounts seem to have moved over to Castlewoods area from Bedford County, near the Otter River, early on.I think both served under Wm. Russell during Dunmore's War.In one of the Keagly books I saw that John & one of the others had land on Walkers Creek [present day Bland??] for awhile. Did they go to Kentucky, I wonder?I am not at all sure how/if Samuel, John, Mathias & Absolum are related. Then, how does the John Mounts that settled in the Cumberland River area fit in, if at all?
Thanks for the information on Peter Cline.I have not looked closely at the tax lists, comparing county to county, and was not sure that the Clines in Wythe, including the Peter there, were our same Peter & Cline family.I think Cecil Cline in his book thought that they were separate families.
