Deed Book N, p. 263-264 Oct. 26, 1812 John MASON sr (Spartanburgh) to William Smith (same); for $200 sold 294 ac on waters of Burton’s Cr. Witness: Thomas Burton and James Ezell. Signed John MASON’s mark. Wit. oath Mar. 29, 1813 Thomas Burton to Leon Adcock. Rec. Mar. 30, 1813.
On same document were Samuel BURTON, Nat'l BURTON, David BURTON - most of the land was on the Tygar River (Spartanburg Co., SC). Possibly sons of Charles Burton of Spartanburg.
Would there have been an Adear (spelt Adair too?) family on Tygar River ?Would Burton have sometimes been spelt Barton ?
