re: James Adair, Fur Trader. "From 1744-1750 (age 35-46) worked with the Chickasaws, whose villages were located at the headwaters of the Yazoo River in Mississippi. During this period he often visited the Choctaw to try to win them to British allegiance against the French."
Professor Jay K. Johnson, Professor of Anthropology, University of Mississippi, had "Suggested Reading" "James Adair lived amongst the Chickasaws in the Tupelo Region from 1744-1750 and again from 1761-1768."
Would that region be in North East Mississippi - it seems a long way from near Wilmington, North Carolina ?
