in "Records of the Parliaments of Scotland to 1707" there were 88 references for Adair.
An interesting one was 1690/4/66, Edmonston / Edmonstone was prisoner in the tolbooth in Edinburgh "where he was likely to have lost his life".
From memory there may have been another account of his death in records of the siege of Derry or the Fort of Culmore, where Adair (?) did not permit the gates to be opened and (the elderly) Edmonston died outside ?This Adair may have been a William Adair (?) possibly son of Rev. Patrick Adair ?Sir Robert Adair II, bc.1659, who was knighted on the field after the Battle of the Boyne, may have been in Scotland about the time of the siege of Derry ?
Any corrections and additions most welcome.Thankyou.
