General John Moore, b. 1759 in Gaston, Lincoln Co, North Carolina (son of William Moore ) d. 1836 Lincoln Co, bur. Goshen Cemetery, nr Belmont, Lincoln Co. NC, m. 1stly Elizabeth (Betsy) Adair who d. in GA and in 1815 he returned to NC m.2ndly Mrs. Mary SCOTT (Alexander) , as her 2nd husband.
His brother was Alexander Moore who d.1837, father of Rosanna Moore, 2nd wife of William SCOTT.
John Moore was one of the guard at Tuckaseege, watching the movements of Cornwallis after his entrance into Lincoln County. He later served as Commissary to the Army. His first wife was a sister of Gov. Adair, of Kentucky. ...
