In 1770 Charlotte Harwood (Adair) was a legatee of William Backwell (P.C.C. 1846, CCXXXiii fol.852); (P.C.C.4. Jenner)
The manor passed to William Adair of Trowse Newton, NORFOLK, (son of ..................... ?) who had had some interest in it since 1800 (on his marriage to Charlotte Harwood-Backwell ?).
In 1843 William Adair's widow Charlotte(nee Harwood) left Caldecote to her nephew, Charles Hawkins, whose trustees sold it in 1858 to William Whitworth. ................................. Was the above Charles Hawkins the same Rev. Charles Hawkins, (below) son of Ann Adair & Dr. Hawkins ?
Serj-Surgeon Hawkins who m. Miss Ann ADAIR (at Kelston Parish, Somerset ? ), said to have been sister of Robin ADAIR. Serj-Surgeon Hawkins & his wife Ann (nee ADAIR) had son, Rev. Charles Hawkins m. Augusta COCKBURN and he d. 11 April 1847. He was the younger son of Sir Caesar Hawkins (1711-1786), Serjeant Surgeon to the kings George II and III and surgeon at St. Georges Hospital, in which position he was succeeded by his son (Caesar Hawkins ? refer LINCOLNSHIRE 1780 record of a marriage settlement of wife of Sir Caesar Hawkins, would this be Ann ADAIR, sister of Robin ADAIR ?
