Allan, this message was on the Wigtownshire-List :
From this week's Stranraer & Wigtownshire Free Press - Wigtownshire Makes World Top 50 List: Wigtownshire has joined famous destinations like Paris and Los Angeles on a list of The Top 50 Most Authentic Places on Earth. The region, described by one commentator as "on the way to nowhere", is the only Scottish destination to appear on the list, which is published in this month's up-market British Airways magazine, High Life. ` The Scotsman Newspaper also reports, "Wigtownshire, along with far-flung destinations such as Battambang in Cambodia and Sossusvlei in Namibia, was chosen by a panel of travel experts and writers - including novelist Will Self, and Lonely Planet founder Tony Wheeler - because it had remained "true to itself". The rules stated places would be disqualified if they faked their own history, had given up their own culture merely to make money or had over-packaged their natural attractions. Sam Heron
Now all we need is a little music to celebrate our Wigtownshire - Adair heritage.
Do we dare suggest that it is pay-back time for your dear cousin, and challenge him to come up with a suitable hearty rendition for Wigtownshire ?
