Elizabeth "Betsy" Scott, 1/4 Cherokee (her mother was Sarah Hicks, sister of Chief Charles R. Hicks), was married perhaps as many as seven times, and had children by each husband.Her first husband was Edward Adair, by whom she had two sons, Walter Scott (named for her father)and b. Jan. 28, 1791, and James, b. 1793, d. 1814.She then married James Vann, by whom she had a daughter, Delilah Amelia, b. June 30, 1795 who married James McNair.Her sister Margaret "Peggy" was married to James Vann at the time of his death.The Moravian Diaries have information about this, James Vann also had a child by another sister of Betsy and Peggy.
Other husbands and children of Betsy were: husband John Shepherd, a son John, Jr. b. between 1797 and 1802. With husband William Springstonchildren Jennie, b. Dec. 23, 1804, and Edley. With husband Charles Vogt a son Charles, also a husband Pleasant Rose, and she had a son Tilghman by ? Tilghman attended the Moravian Mission school at Springplace, now GA.
