Perhaps he was : Alexander ADAIR, of Saint Martin in the Fields, Middlesex. Commander of the Ship Winchelsea, now in the Service of the East India Company and bound on a Voyage to Bengal. Will proved Prerog. Court Canterbury, 27 Nov 1744.
Alexander ADAIR (above) m. Mary SMALL (dau of Alexander Small of York Building, London), and they had a son, Alexander ADAIR jnr who may have inherited Flixton Hall from his uncle, William ADAIR. Alex Adair jnr may have been on the Privy Council in Londonand looked after the affairs of Nell Gwynn ?
