Hi Winnie, Thank you for responding. I find my ggrands listed first in 1870 Wilmington, NC. Had NO previous knowledge of either from family lore, which told of being FPOC coming from England as indentured servants w/VA kin and Native ancestry. Needless to say, it was a shock to find that the family was enslaved prior to that time, in SC???? By 1880, the family is found under the WELDEN surname and owning a house in Wilmington--------but, no records can be found by a pro researcher in June of this year???? Along w/many other surnames, I have come across ADAIR. I have been at this research for 13yrs, and have yet to connect w/ANY kin or even to find ANYONE who knows of the family, which was in Wilmington until 1910. I am now the older generation, so it is up to me to find family history------------I am completely bewildered at this point as to what/where to try next, but won't give up. Sincerely, carol wheeldin warren.
