I am looking for others researching this Adams family in Loudoun Co., VA and elsewhere. The thing that seperates them from the other Adams is they are of German heritage. They are Lutherans, Married into another German family and lived in a German community. Wilhelm shows up in records as William. but in the records of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Lovettsville, Loudoun Co., VA, he is listed with wife Barbara as the parents of my George Adams that moved to Muskingum Co., OH.:
George Adams, Christened 19 Apr 1789 parents are Wilhelm and Barbara Adams.
Another researcher, Barbara Thacker, suggests dates for Wilhelm and his wife Barbara as ca 1762 and 1766 repectively.
In the "History of Muskingum County, Ohio" by J. F. Everhart written in 1882. It has a quite a bit of information on George's family in Salem Twp. and mentioned that George was born Feb 12, 1789 in Loudoun Co., VA to a William Adams who remained in VA. It also states that George came to OH in 1807 but returned to VA at the offset of the War of 1812 and enlisted in the army. After the war he married Christine Werts (ca 1815 of Loudoun) and returned to OH where he lived the remainder of his years.
I am researching other Germanic lines that showed a migration from PA to MD and VA so it is possible that Wilhelm's family came from there. There are few German Adams that show up in the shipping lists, one of those being a Nicholas Adams on the ship William and Sarah in 1727 and an Adam Adams on the ship Two Brothers in 1751. There are many German Adams (Adam, Addams) families in PA. that could possibly be connected to Wilhelm. I also find many in Germany and Alsace, France where many Berks Co., Germans/Swiss were from.
At any rate I would like to contact other's researching the German Adams and any lines that might be connected.
