Judy - My James Monroe Adams, who was my great-grandfather, was b. in IN. according to all the Census records I have copied. He may have married in IA. though because his first child was born there. I found him first in Nodaway Co., MO. with his wife and several children. He then went on to the Kansas City, MO. area. He married an English woman named Emma Lee. All I know about her is that she and her parents were born in England - not where in England or when they came or where they came to. James Monroe Adam's father's name may have been James???The only other clue that I have about where James M.Adams may have come from and who his family was, is that on the Census (think the 1880 one) it says that James brother, L. A. Adams is living with his family. It lists him as being born in IN. too. Are you from KS., Judy? Your E-mail address seems to indicate that you might be. We are from MO. and KS. but are living in the Phoenix area now.
