I descend from the George Adams of Watertown, Massachusetts line, and am researching a link that may exist connecting George Adams to the Henry Adams of Brainstree line. The following is an excerpt from Adams History, Author: Andrew N. Adams. The author explains that basically from Nicholas13 back to Sir John Ap Adams is essentially correct, but the connection adding John13 to the Ap Adams line is "utterly incorrect". My interest is the two George Adams listed, and if one may be George Adams b.c1620 of Watertown, Massachusetts. I would appreciate any help on this. "Thanks"
Sir John Ap Adam2, Kt., Lord Ap. Adam; m. Elizabeth, dau. of Sir John Gourney of Beverstone and Tedenham, Gloucester. Residence several generations at Charlton, Gloucester.
Sir Thomas Ap Adam3, and others;
Sir William Ap Adam4.
Sir John Ap Adam5.
Thomas Ap Adam6.
Sir John Ap Adam7, Kt., m. Milicent, dau. of Sir Matt. Bisylls.
Sir John Ap Adam8, alias Adams; m. Clara, dau. of Mr. Roger Powell.
Roger Adams9, m. Jane, dau. of (???) Ellyott.
Thomas Adams10, m. Marie, dau. of Mr. Upton.
John Adams11, m. Jane, dau. of Mr. Rennelegh.
John Adams12, m. Catherine, dau. of Mr. Stebbing.
Nicholas13, m. and had no issue; John13, m. Margerye, dau. of Mr. Squier. George13, m. and had issue.
Richard14, (son of John13) m. Margaret, dau. of Mr. Armager.
Robert15, m. Elizabeth Sharlon.
George16; Henry16; Ambrose16; John16.
This pedigree is thought by good judges to be correct, and genuine, as far as Nicholas13,--"a mere transcript of the record made by the Heralds in their Visitation of Devonshire, 1564." "This Visitation Pedigree, however, ends with Nicholas13, who married and had no issue. No brothers of this Nicholas13 are given. . . The rest of the Pedigree beginning with John, brother of Nicholas13, is an addition by somebody." Col. Joseph L. Chester, LL. D., an American genealogist of high rank, resident in London, wrote [See New Eng. Historical and Genealogical Register, July, 1877; Vol. XXXI., p. 333], "I have no hesitation in pronouncing the portion connecting the English family with the Braintree Adamses utterly incorrect."
