This William that you refer to must be William B. Adams, b. abt 1833, died 1902 in Itawamba Co, Ms.Married to Elmira Harris, b. 1836 Ga, died 1915, Lee, Ms.Children were:
James J., Roxanna, William Bert, jr, John Allen, Mary Ann, George Washington, Ida Elizabeth, Mollie, and Robert Noah.
William's parents were Franklin Adams and Martha ___.
His grandparents were William "Billie" Adams (d 1833 Pitt)
and Susan Mills.
His great grandparents were Abraham Adams, b. 1755 Beaufort Co, NC, d. 1845, and Celia Elizabeth Brooks.
His great great grandparents were Willoughby Adams, Sr. and
Elizabeth Weeks.
His great great great grandparents were Abraham Adams Sr. and Barthia (or Bathia) ___.
I have several more details of this Adams family.I feel sure that Mr. Lee's Archibold must be a "cuzzin" of this family somewhere, but I cannot find any records of an Archibold in my papers.
The Brooks surname appears several times.
Abraham and Barthia had five children, Abraham, Jr., Richard, William, Willoughby, Sr, and Obia (Abbia).
I have some info on the descendants of Richard (not much!)
and Willoughby, Sr (my line) and absolutely nothing on Abraham, Jr, William, and Obia (female). It is certainly possible that Archibold belongs to one of these branches of the tree and I would definitely look into that! All these folks were originally from the Bath, NC vicinity.
ANYONE with further info on any of these branches should help us put it together, however small the tidbit.
Searching an Adams surname is not easy!
