I am not an Adams researcher, but I do have a book REGISTER OF ALBEMARLE PARISH SURRY AND SUSSEX COUNTIES 1739 -1778.In this book it gives Wynny, daughter of Benja Adams and wife Agnes, b March 30, c May 24, 1747, godparents John Ezzel, Sarah Roberts & Agnes Bullock. From looking at later entries, Wynny may have married Charles Long, but this needs to be checked out.It also gives the birth and christening dates of Benja and Agnes' children Anne, James and Sarah.Anne may have married Nathaniel Felts, but that needs to be checked out also.
Benja Adams (wife Frances) is listed as Benja Adams Jr when son Sterling, b April 6, is christened on May 24, 1752.Benja is NOT listed as junior when the next child, Howell, was christened on Aug 25, 1756, nor afterwards so it appears his father died before the christening date.
There was a John Adams that was a godparent for Joel, b Dec 11,1743, son of Robert Bullock and wife Martha in Feb 1744.That is the only time this John appears in the book.John is some way related to the other Adams as the other godparents names, Felts and Roberts, were last names of other godparents of Adams children. And the Hobbs name appears in the book also.
Hope this helps you or someone else.
Mary Adams, daughter? of Benja and Agnes, apparently never married or either married later in life, for she is listed as the mother of twins Charlotte MacLemore and Willie MacLemore, b Feb 15, 1766, with the Adams name, no father listed which was unusual not to list the father's name even if parents were not married.
