Try "Descendants of Henry Adams of Braintree, Mass." (1898) by A.N. Adams. This VERY large work which should be of help. Note that Ensign Ed's first wife (mother of all his children) was Lydia Penniman (d. 1676), dau. of James & Lydia (Eliot) Penniman, not Lydia Rockwood as per earlier works. There was an article in "The American Genealogist" (TAG) on this problem sometime in the 1940s - you might check the new CD-ROM Index to TAG, vols. 9-41, for the exact citation - also within the last couple of years, TAG published a lovely article on the family of James & Lydia (Eliot) Penniman giving EO (English origin) for James Penniman. The EO of his wife Lydia Eliot has long been known - she was dau. of Bennet & Lettice (Aggar) Eliot, who both d. 1621 at Nazeing, Essex. Her bro. was Rev. John Eliot, the Apostle to the Indians, who translated the Bible into Massachusett (hence the name of our Commonwealth) for the local Indians.
