So far there is no connection just a lot of coincidences. Besides my George Adams who married Christina Werts, there were other Adams and McKinneys in Loudoun that married into the Werts/Wertz/Virts/etc. line:
Adams, Carrie Loretta b. Jan 31, 1876 d. Sep 15, 1958 married Samuel Ashbury Virts (Muskingum CO., OH) Adams, Penny Sue married Patrick Shawn Virts McKinney, Arvle Raymond married 1916 Viola Wertz McKinney, Rayette Jean married 1978 Schanz Lee Verts McKinney, WIlliam B. married Catharina Wirtz(Virts) b. 04 Jan 1820 (Loudoun Co., VA)
The Werts were Lutheran like my Adams but they also married outside their faith and show up in marriages performed by a Methodist minister in Loudoun named Thomas Littlejohn. It would make sense that the McKinneys were Methodist and perhaps some of those Adams are not the German Lutheran ones but the English Adams that lived next to Loudoun in Fauquier Co., VA. I have a lot of research on that line and the descendency report I have for them which goes back to 1718 does not contain any Werts or McKinneys so perhaps they can be ruled out.
Lisa thinks her Adams came from PA and there is some evidence that some of the Lutheran Adams from Loudoun migrated up into Bedford and Somerset counties, PA and maybe even into Westmoreland and Fayette and then to points west.
I guess we will have to do some more digging to see if there is a connection or not. Right now there isn't anything to suggest there is.
