I am looking at Caswell Co NC Deeds July 14, 1806.John Cilton Sr. and James Chilton 600 pounds for 109 acres in Caswell County on the waters of Ruthledge Creek, "to state line,on Adams line".It is signed by Simon Adams and William (his mark) Chilton as witnesses and John (his mark)Chilton as buyer.
Note in this same area and in the same time frame are Leas, Harralsons and Pattons in the land deeds.(The Harralson and Patton families are married into the Chambers.Fanny Chambers Adams (wife of George Adams bn 1790 Va)is the daughter of John Chambers and Rebecca Graham Chambers and granddaughter of William and Eliz Patton Chambers.
One deed 1805 shows John Payne of CC and James D Patton (of the town of Danville, Va...selling a tract in CC and now residing in Caswell Co.
19 June 1806 John Chilton and Wm Chilton of CC NC buy land on Rutledges Creek/Va line.Wit:Simon Adams, Sarah (her mark)Thompson.Bought by John Chilton
So far I have only been able to find two deeds for the children of Simon.3 Aug 1806 I, Simon Adams give daughter Ann R (Robranz, Pharriz,Rheariz) Adams one Negro (?) Milly, May and Gleida(Glenda) to Ann R. AdamsSigned Simon Adams and wit: Benj Williamson and John Nowl(Nohe, Noble?)
4 Aug 1806 Simon Adams and Philip Pearson Adams son "a tract of land bordering on Samuel Litonz (?)line on my saw mill road leading to the ford and east to the main Danville Road 200 acres.Wit"Hickman Spiller, Benj. Williamson, John Nohe (noble)
Simon Adams to Phillip P. Adams,Girl Juda, Benj. Williamson and John Noble
I THINK that the igi believes that Simon is part of the Va Adams. You might check this out.
It does appear that a lot of selling, trading etc went on between the Adams and allied families in Danville/Halifax/Caswell and then Person Counties.Meredith
