Hi Denny - Yesterday I was in Frederick, Md researching the family of Martin Adam from Steinweiler, Rohrbach, Baden, came to Frederick between 1752 and 1753. It's about 20 miles from Lovettsville, where I was the day before. Martin left a will in 1754 naming sons Valentine and Andrew, but also had a son Jacob baptized, and there's a Johannes of an age to be his son.
Martin bought land in 1753 in Walkersville, left to son Andrew a year later. Valentine's son George lived on the Monocacy nearby, before going to Kentucky in the 1790's. An Andrew Adams (not sure if Martins or Valentines) left a will in 1820, with land in Taneytown to his son George.
Valentine Adam married a Lingenfelter, apparently also from Steinweiler, may have come over together. His brother-in-law Abraham went to Bedford Co, where daughters married into Imler, Claar & Dively. Valentine's daughter Mary md John Spangler. I believe he is the one who's mother Anna Miller md 2nd Christian Livingston in Frederick before moving to Conemaugh Twp, Somerset Co, Pa, and then all but the oldest son David moved on to Stark Co, Ohio (close to home). I'm not sure if this family connect to the Spanglers of Shade Twp. Solomon Adams 1791-1865 married Catherine hiner of Taneytown, had sons Martin and Andrew (amogn others) in Bedford Co, Pa, then moved to Richland Co, Ohio.
So, there's a lot of traffic from Frederick to Bedford/Somerset, and then on to Ohio.
I copied all the Adam/Adams entries from the transcribed Parish Register of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Frederick, available at the local HGS. I also copied all the Hoff entries from the New Jerusalem Lutheran register in Lovettsville on Wednesday, apparently all belonging to Philip & Rosina, I'll get those to you asap.
Looking at the list, I don't see any baptisms for a Wilhelm/William Adam, but of course they may have been at other churches. I'm still looking for my Andrew Adams, of Woodberry Twp, Bedford Co & Jackson Twp, Cambria Co, who was born in Maryland.
