Hello Jo, I too, am descended from Lydia Whitney and Moses Adams through there daughter Lydia Adams who married John Fiske of Watertown, Mass.John Fiske had a son Peter Fiske who married Sarah Perry.Their son Moses Fiske married a Nancy Schults/Shults who moved to Overton County, Tennessee.Moses Fiske had 15-20 Land Grants through Tennessee Governor Blountwhich he sold to new comers to homestead in the area.He was a school teacher, politician/advisor, surveyor, engineer and highly sought after for his land grants and homestead benefits.
Moses Fiske is very well known in Jackson/Overton County area as he was the engineer who laid the road between Nashville and Knoxville, TN; operated a Female Academy for well respected girls. He was the founder of a town he named Hilham, (Hamlet in the Hills)He is buried in Fiske Cemetery, off Fiske Cemetery Road near Hilham.I found his grave in 1997 on a fact finding trip to the area.He died in 1845 and his wife Nancy in 1854.They had more than 10 children. He had twin daughters, one of whom married my 4th Grandfather.
There was a very nice article published in 1936 in the East Tennessee Historical Society, Volume XX, page 18-36. I highly recommend this for background information on Moses Fiske of Overton County, Tennessee.
What other Adams information do you have?I'm going to be in Boston for a week to do some searching.
