Your ADAMS in Loudoun are German, am I right? I ran across a document in Maryland that I thought might be of interest to you. I have no idea if the dates are right, etc. and the document is really horrible to try to decipher but here's a bit of it:
John ADAM, Joseph Goebel and Christian Ebersols of Frederick County German Protestants being people called "[can't make it out - Haritas Fiahum or something like that]" come into court . . . "An Act for the naturalizing such foreign protestants " . . . and are settlers or shall settle in any of his majestys Colonies in America . . . having produced the following certificates of having received the sacrament ???
This is to certify that John ADAM is a member of the Sociates of the Papisty and have record this sacrament . . . my hand this first day of September 1765.
It goes on and is signed by George Marlin" "Minister of the Congregation"
The document came from Maryland and the 2nd page references Maryland so I think that whatever is going on here was happening in Frederick Co., MD, right across the Potomac River from Loudoun Co., VA. Many Frederick Co. MD families moved into Loudoun Co., VA
