Dear Lettie, I believe that you once responded to a posting of mine re: my g-g-grandfather, Thomas Green Adams, the younger brother of your John Jefferson. I, fortunately, was able to purchase a copy of the Whitehead book myself about 1 1/2 years ago. There are frequent references in Mrs. Whitehead's book to "Uncle Jimmie's" ( James Monroe Adams) diary. I have been told that his diary which is in the Georgia Archives mentions that Thomas Adams and Mary White are the parents of our James. There is apparently some question as to who wrote the notation in the diary, however. Since I haven't seen the diary personally, I can't vouch for this. Is there some Adams researcher out there who has seen the diary and can shed some light on this question?
When I have contacted other researchers, I have been told that Thomas and Mary are generally accepted as being the parents of our James Adams, but that there is no verification as to this. I do believe Al Adams is correct re: James Jr. and Jane Cunningham not being the parents of our James.
I have accumulated a fair amount of information on this line over the past four years and welcome other researchers to contact me at email@example.com . Perhaps we have information to share. Carl Roache
