My line currently starts with Milton Adams born Feb 1838. His place of birth is still a mystery. The 1870 census says Pennsylvania. The 1880 and 1900 both say New York. Also, the 1880 census says both his parents were born in New York, but the 1900 says his dad was born in Connecticut and his mom in Pennsylvania. Milton was first married to Lucy. They had the following children: George, Edwin and Henry.
Between 1870 and 1880, Lucy, Edwin and Henry are no longer listed with him. He is now married to Rebecca BASTIAN. George is still with the family. Milton had the following children with Rebecca: Mary, John, Reuben/Ruben and Ellen/Elen. John is my link to this family.
Milton was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, enlisted in Company D, 11th Cavalry Regiment Pennsylvania on 29 February 1864, out of Franklin County, PA.
Milton's death date is unknown, but he is buried at Grover Cemetery, Canton, PA. We have a photo of his headstone and it only says "Milton Adams Co. D 11th PA CAV". Next to his grave is a brass star reading "GAR 1861 1885".
I have more details on the children (mostly with his second wife) if needed.
