Looking for information on General David Adams of the Jasper/Pike county area and all of his descendants and brothers' descendants (Jonathan and James). We have a Mary "Polly" Adams who was born in 1812 in Jasper Co. and married David Hooten in Jasper, and are fairly certain she must be part of this Adams family, but have not found her father and do not know any of her siblings' names (if any). She was disowned by her family for staying with her husband so that is probably why we have no records or information. There were rumors that she was somehow related Presidents John and John Quincy Adams, but have not found any of their relations who would have gone to SC or GA (Gen David was from Waxhaw, SC originally and was a Rev. War veteran). Mary and David Hooten had a son Hiram Putnam Hooten, and we were wondering if they followed the naming traditions and if this may tie her to the illeg. Hiram Adams of Jasper or the Putnam Adams who was there as well. There was also a Gillingsley Adams and an M. Adams that we have found no information on. Please help! If any of this looks familiar to you, please respond. Gen. David is buried in the Adams family cemetary in Jasper Co. with his mother, two brothers and a daughter (Mary).
