Belinda,
I have never seen a connection between this family and the Presidents.
James Adams, Sr. and Mary Montgomery had at least the following children:
David
Jonathan
William
James, Jr.
Robert
Polly
Betsy
Nancy
Jean
Rebecca
"GEORGIA DAR RECORDS" give the following re: David:
David Adams, born inWaxhaw District, SC, Feb. 28, 1766; died in Pike Co. GA, 1834.Married Betsey Bradfield, born 1775, Granville Co., N. C.; died Pike Co., GA, 1833.Received bounty land, 1785, Washington Co., GA.
Seven known children—susposed to be nine.
Nancy, d. Aug. 12, 1836, age 21
Jonathan, b. 1803
Jefferson
Caleb B.
George, d. Roanoke, Stewart Co. GA (military)
Jane S. m. Richard S. Walker
Rebecca m. John M. Mangham
David MAY have a Mary but if he does I think she died young; in a Jasper cemetery book there is a reference to a daughter and to his mother and I am unable to tell if the name "Mary" refers to the daughter or the mother.
The abstract of William's will shows:
December 14, 1808
William Adams:Wife, Jane. Children, James C., Rebecca N?. Amy.
James, Jr. is said to have a James III but I have never been able to prove it.He does have the following:
Mary who m. James C. McGiboney
Rissilla
Rebecca
Permelia
Nancy
John
Jonathan was married to Charlotte by October 1801 but I can't find a list of his children.
Robert did not marry until 1815.
