Thanks for your posting regarding the Adams and Goodrums. I'll post further information regarding these Greensville Co. marriages as I'm sure you have that John Rogers was the surety for Edwin Adams marriage to Olive McGlamore Feb 5 1789. (I am also a fourth ggranddaughter of Rev. John Meglamre (spellings also of McGlamre and McGlamery) and have wondered if Olive was somehow related?)
Greensville Co. Marriage Bonds: Colin Adams and Frances Nicholson 12-16-1790. Mother Mary Nicholson.
Hartwell Adams and Rebecah (Rebecca) Barnes 12-18-1821. Surety Littleton Chambliss
James B. Adams and Sarah Cain 2-6-1821. Father Harward Cain.
I believe there is a strong possibility that Hartwell Adams who married Rebecca Barnes, sister to my ancestor, was the son of James Adams born before 1765 on the 1810 Census with two males born 1794-1800. A James B. Adams appears as a witness with William H. Barnes, brother to Rebecca Barnes Adams above.Edwin Adams was also on this 1810 Census born 1765-1784, but he only had females in the census.
Hartwell Adams and Rebecca Barnes had two children in the 1830 census prior to Rebecca's death. Both their daughter and son were born 1825 to 1830. I haven't located the names of these children nor whom they married. Hartwell Adams married secondly Martha Long in 1833.
A Richard Barnes married Elizabeth Adams 1820 Sussex Co. and I'm not certain if this was Rebecca Barnes' brother or nephew. She did have a brother named Richard who died 1825 Greensville Co. Yet, another Richard Barnes was the first administrator of the estate of James Blanks 1829 Greensvile.James Blanks was the administrator of the estate of Susanna Barnes, Rebecca's mother, 1820 Greensville Co.Also, in my Mason lines, Charles Mason married Mary Adams and I don't know the relationship between Elizabeth and Mary. One step further, the Adams married into the Rideout family of Greensville as did the Barnes. Along with the above, John Meglamre Whitehorn married Elizabeth Jones Cain, and he was a brother to another second ggrandmother Elizabeth Whitehorn who married David Newsom 1816 Sussex Co. Then as noted above, the Cains married into the Adams lines. So, you can see, there are several Adams connections with my Newsom, Barnes, Whitehorn and Mason lines. If you may have come across any of the above names in your research, I surely would appreciate your assistance.
