Thomas Adams was the son of George Adams of Rockingham County, NC.George died in abt 1802. Thomas is listed on the 1790 Census for Rockingham County.Thomas and Ann moved their family to Davidson County, TN in about 1795.David, one of seven children, was born in Davidson County in 1797.By October 1799, Thomas had died. On 18 Apr 1801, the court appointed Col. Joel Lewis to be guardian of five of the children including David.Joel Lewis, a Revolutionary War hero, was a member of the 1796 Tennessee Constutional Convention and a good friend of Andrew Jackson.
David Adams married Betsey Fielder on 11 Sep 1816.In abt 1820, they migrated to Lauderdale County, AL via the Natchez Trace.
I am a descendant of Reuben Adams (my gg-grandfather), brother to Joseph S. (or Josephus) Adams.By the way, Joseph served in the Civil War with Col. Batt Jones' Battalion (8th AR Inf Batt'n, CSA) and was wounded in the left shoulder at the Battle of Corinth, MS on 5 Oct 1862.
