John Adams married a Mary Tierney in England, Ireland, Pa, or NY between 1870 and 1880.
Family stories have him going to England and returning with her.One US Census states that
both were from Northern Ireland.Mary, we know, was from Inishbofin, Co. Galway.
They had at least 3 male offspring and one daughter.Were there more, I don't know.
The children I do know are;
1) John Nicholas Adams b. 7/21/1885, Philadelphia, PA, d. 2/6/1944, Los Angeles, CA
2) Charles Francis Adams b. 11/7/1882 (maybe 1875), Philadelphia, PA, d. 2/28/1941,??, CA
3) Margaret Adams b. 1889, in California,
4) Richard Peter Adams b. 3/31/1882, Philadelphia, PA, d. 1/12/1953, Alameda, CA
5) Possibly more siblings exist?
With the exception of Richard Peter, these children married:
John Nicholas Adams married Teresa (Emily) Wagner, 9/17/1919, in Nyack, NY.(The Wagner's are another road block but that's not for this group.)John Nicholas, Sr. and Emily had two children.One, rumor has it, was a stillborn female.The second was a son. That son was named John Nicholas (Jr.) in September, 1922; the location of birth was Los Angeles, Ca...John Nicholas, Jr. Married Lois Benvenuti and they had two sons, my brother and me.(My mother's family is traced back to the late 1700's in Italy (much fewer Benvenuti's and Crosina's then Adams's.)
Charles Francis and Agnes K. had one daughter, Eileen, who was 17 in the 1930 CA census.The 1930 census also states that Agnes was born in California and that her parents were from Ireland.
Margaret Adams married Unknown Hull, 1905 to 1912.Marriage location unknown but presumed to be California.As near as can be determined at the moment Margaret married in the early 1900's to an unknown HULL, divorced (I'm guessing the marriage lasted for the duration of about 1908 to 1914) and living with her daughters Margarita and Virginia Hull in Berkeley, CA.According to the 1920 census the girls' father was born in "California".
According to the 1920 Census everyone, except John who we believe had died shortly before, was living in the family house on McKinley Street in Berkeley, CA (Alameda Co.)All indications are that Margaret and Richard continued to live in the house into the 1950’s.
What we know and don't know...........
a) We don't know where John Adams came from, or died. We only know that he and Mary were in Philadelphia between 1880 and 1890.We do have lots of information about his wife, M. Tierney, and her family but we are missing the place and date of death for her.We also don't know where or when they were married.
b) We don't know what happened to Eileen Adams or her mother Agnes after Charles died in 1941.His death is a very interesting story.
c) We have found Margaret's name as the sister of Richard on his death certificate and in the 1930 Census.We also have vague references to her in other family documents.We don't know birth month, marriage, death dates, or any other information.We'd also like to know what happened to Margarita and Virginia.
