I have at least one George ADAMS in the northern neck of Virginia that might qualify. He is George Adams Jr, the son of George Adams who died sometime around 1750 in Fauquier Co VA. The last recorded entry for his presumed son George Adams Jr was ca 1669 in the Goose Creek area.
His father was probably the son of George ADAMS of Brent Town, possibly the son of John Adams and wife Catherine of Northumberland and Stafford Co. John was a neighbor to Henry Washington, while Gabriel Adams (possibly his son, but unproven) was a neighbor to Augustine Washington on the Aquia.
The history of this Northern Neck Adams family is not entirely clear, as many claims have been made that cannot be proved in the records. However, it is clear that George Adams Sr died with outstanding obligations sometime between 1749 and 1750 and that his younger male relatives George Adams Jr, Abraham Adams, John Adams, and Mathew Adams came into court to satisfy the debt. Based on the ages of his presumed brothers Abraham and Mathew, George could have been born around 1740.
I am interested in the information you have concerning his age and presumed marriage to Winifred Shumate and their possible migration pattern.
