Would like to pursue any connection if you think there is one. I originally thought my Richard Adams came from Wedmore but not certain. Family history said he was from Sommersetshire but no proof. The possible connection would be your Adams coming to Montreal because of family connections. Therefore here are some facts about my Richard Adams.
He arrived in Montreal prior to 1819 and married Henrietta Maria Kollmeyer. Records of births and marriages of family members can be traced through Christ Church in Montreal. Their son Francis became an engraver and established a prosperous business, "The Adams Engraving Company" which endures today. 1881 census lists Francis with sons Richard and Frank [Richard an engraver remained in Montreal and Frank came to Manitoba] and daughters Charlot, Fanny and Ida. One of the daughters married a Simpson. Both the Kollmyers and Adams were quite affluent as by the late 1800's both families were living in homes on streets running up the side of Mount Royal above Sherbrooke Street, a site of larger and more expensive homes.
If any of this information connects with your Adams you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would be pleased to find a connection to the family roots in England.
