So nice to hear from someone from Scotland.
I think my husband has relations there from way back but haven't gone that far.
I actually emailed you last night but for some reason my computer would not send it and it got lost.
The site I mentioned is the INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Shortened to IGI.
After you have read this email print it and follow the instructions below.
If you type Familysearch without any spaces you will get a list of options.
The 2nd one should be the search one, click on that.
On the screen that comes up there is a list down the left hand side.
All the choices are interesting but go to the INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX and click.
On the screen that comes up click on the search tab near the top of the screen.
It is a blue tab or green?
The screen that comes up will allow you to fill in detalis.
I just put in my relevant names and select the main country and see what comes up.
Too much info is not always the best thing.
Informants may have entered info with the father's name only. If it doesn't work with both parents them delete the mother's name first.
Then try it the other way.
You may have something come up without either parents names.
Have a look at all the dropboxes and see what you can enter before you search for someone.
I have saved this site in my Favorites list so I just have to click on that to get in.
I saved mine under FamilySearch IGI Search so I know exactly what the site is in the list.
I never download, I open a word file and when I find something I want I highlight it and copy it.
I then go to the word file and paste it there.
You need to open the file first and minimise it as sometimes it will cancel out when you try to open it after.
Let me know if you need any more help or you want me to double check anyone until you get the hang of all the ways to get info.
Hope you understand this as I'm rushing as I have to pick up my son from drama.
Bye for now.
