Regarding your interest in Wm Peck's wife, Rosetta was born in Chile and William was a sailor (usually the 1st officer) on cargo schooners that routinely made the trip around the Horn. Family legend has him smuggling his wife aboard his ship back to New England. They must have made amends with her family 'cause they traveled together back to Chile at least once since a daughter, Isabelle, was born there. Rosetta died in childbirth (along with the infant) in 1881.
My direct relation is another daughter, Maria Theresa (Tessie) Peck. I recently stumbled across a woman who is related to a son of Rosetta, Henry, who married Grace Norris.
The maternal lines have been a real problem for me. Rosetta's Chilean family is a mystery (I'm looking for her naturalization papers for some clue). But I'm also having problems with Frances Adams and Sarah Carver, neither of whose parents I'm definitely sure of.
