William Adams married Rebecca Chastain. He was born about 1792, lived most of his life in the area now known as Pickens County, SC.But he last appears on the 1860 Henderson County, NC census as a widower with his adult children in the home of JT Cisson.
He appears to have had six daughters, and four sons - only two sons appear to have lived to have families of their own.
I am currently trying to trace the daughters and granddaughters - one at a time.My connection to William and Rebecca is through their daughter Jane Chastain Adams who married George Chapman in Pickens County about 1846.
One of the unusual names that appears in this family is the name "Tantavine".Both Jane and her brother James Adams had daughters named Tantavine.I think they named their daughters after one of their sisters, but that is unproven.Jane's daughter died in childhood.James' daughter appears to have grown up and married a Rabb. That name variously appears as Rhabb, Rabb and Rab.Her first name variously appears as Tantavine, Tantaline, Tantabine and Tinievine.I've found one Rabb daughter for sure - Amelia. She married William Turner and had several children.Amelia was born about 1871 or 1872.
I wonder if anyone is searching the Turner family line and has information about their Adams connections or is seeking information about their Adams/Chastain connections.
