I am looking for information pertaining to Dan(spelled Dam in 1870 census) and Mary Francis Adams. I have been able to trace Dan and Mary Franicis and their sons up to 2006. The dau's, Lucinda and Margrett are elusive. What I mainly am interested in is confirming the name of the last slaveholder of this family. On land deeds held by Dan Mary the surnames of Lagrone were the grantor. There are no wills for this person. In close proximity of where Dan and Mary lived in 1870 was JOHN B COX a large slave holder . I am leaning toward this person but as of yet have not located tax records or a will with names of slave's listed. The name COX also seems to be be important in my family unit's because Dan's sister Ellen, in 1870 is married to ANDY COX and in the household is 4 ADAMS nephews, that were sons of Dan and Mary Adams. If there is anyone who is researching ADAMS/COX. please contact me. I do know my ADAMS lived in a community called CENTRAL GROVE MS AND WILLIS PRCT MS. This was a large population of black americans. I would also like to find cousins who may still be living in Aberdeen, Ms or the surrounding area. Maybe we can exchange family history.
