Margaret, I hope that the DNA study will help separate the Adams family groups.I reviewed my information again - and deleted William, as the possible father of John Adams who m Katherine.
At this point the on-line information is so muddled that I would have to go original records to be able to determine the connection. There are researchers that connect this Adams family to the early documented Adams family out of Plymouth Co., MA. (Next generation instead of William being John Adams born 7 Aug 1595 Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA & Eleanor Worden or Eleanor Newton.)
I did look at my Simon Adams, who was the son of John S. (I found John S. some references which explains why sometimes his name was John or Simon, maybe) the gs of John & Susannah Wood.I looks as if the first wife of Simons Adams, RS b. abt 1759, married the first time, Rachel Reid. By her he had the two children Phillip Pearson Adams, and Ann (?) Adams.I think that name would connect him to his g gm Priscilla (Pearson) Adams. Most references have his born in SC but mostly living and marrying in Caswell Co.,NC, where Rachel d abt 1798.
Simon RS m 2nd Elizabeth THompson, my ancestor, but she m 2nd Fendral Roland, whose first wife had been previously m to a remote Uncle John Walker (not important, just interesting, but not surprising since my Walker's came from the same counties in the Northern Neck of VA, Northumberland/Westmoreland/Stafford).
In any event these Adams in what became Caswell Co., from Orange Co., NC seems to connect, but I did decide that Gabriel who m Priscilla Pearson was the son of John Adams, Jr., b abt 1673 Stafford Co., VA d aft 1751 & Elizabeth (Johns).(I had an extra Gabriel in my chart, and that assumption was wrong.)The latter John Jr was the son of JOhn Adams & Katherine Napier. If we get another documented descendant of John & Katherine, perhaps that will lead us to the correct connection.
I note that the Adams family out of Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA, is listed on Ancestry.com. In the late 1300's these Adams connect with ancestors of the Adams' presidents. My great Uncle had been adament that he was connected, but I have never found the connection, and if proven that we did NOT descent from John & Katherine, we could be related. (I did prove his kinship to Pres. Jefferson.)
Thanks for the note.At this point I hesitate to re-post a corrected lineage outline, until the DNA study progresses.W.Ray Walker
