Hi Beverley,
Nice to hear from you.First, let me say that the Owen Adams I was
interested in was actually Orren Adams from Cumberland County, NC and
he was at least a third generation North Carolinian.Both his father and his
grandfather were John and that complicates an already complicated search.
As for the Dobbs, you probably know that I totally question Fortunatus
Dobbs being the father of Lodowick.Neither of these men have ever been
found in the same county at the same time.Lodowick was in NC until after
the American Revolution while Fortunatus was in SC during the war.
Also, I have never found any proof that either of them married an Adams.
I suspect that Lodowick's wife may have been an Adams but the proof is not
there.They seem to have married in NC.
It is interesting about your Lodowick Adams, but I have found quite a few
Lodowicks in early America.I do wish you the best in your continuing research.R. L. Guffin
