John, you can never give another family researcher too much info. Now that I can add your George to my Adams family tree, I have a place to record the info collected, and it helps very much in tieing all these families together.By the way, I was delighted that William b ca 1813 was a son of George, I was afraid that he couldn't be identified, and make it unacceptable to consider that your George was Reuben's 1/2 brother.
By the way, I have two tin-type pictures of Susan Jane Adams Mitchell, dau of Reuben. My great Uncle George Washington Mitchell told me that he was about 8 when Susan died.I believe that the Mitchell's may have lived with that family some when they returned from Hopkinsville, KY, where they had moved to improve their situation and be close to some Uncle Adams, that were preachers. in KY
Yes, I believe that we have knowledge that George was born in NC, even though they consider it VA.Also, you know state and county lines could sometimes be shifted. My gmother's oldest brother was b 1871, he was able to tell me that my ggg Hardige Walker, Jr., actually settled in Montgomery County, instead of Cheatham Co., ((Cheatham from Robertson), as he said he used to walk by his home as a child, and one day he noted that the road workers moved the county line sign Westerly, so they Hardige was actually in Cheatham County.
Thanks for the very complete clarification.I will contact you if I have any questions. Also, please do write you history of this early family.
