Hi, I have some information that might be of interest if you do not already have it.There is one documented family tree for Penelope Adams (b 1770 Va/d betw 1850&1860) and a possible John Adams (b~1765/d 5-17-1811 in a drowningwhen #157 gunboat sank off Charleston,Sc. Buried in Montgomery Go., Glenwood Ga). The connection with John Adams isn't verified but is plausible considering his age and his time of death. He died in May of 1811 and Penelope married (documented) a Lemuel Williamson in October. As toPenelope Adams, she is listed withbirthplace as VA on a 1850 census at which time she was living with her son, Matthais/Mathias/Matthias Adams. She doesn't appear on the 1860 census.Penelope and husband had Wiley Adams (3/4/1798-5/21/1873): Mathias Adams (10-10-1800/3-15-1855 died from a fallen tree branch as he was cutting down a tree): Charlotte (also appears in records with same siblings as Shartol) (~1801/d betw 1878&1800): Asa Lemuel (12-28-1809/6-13-1891). In 1811,Penelope Adams married a Lemuel Williamson (10-23-1811 in Montgomery, Ga). They had a son Byrd (2/15/1815-8/6/1862).Lemuel fought at some point in the War of 1812. He applied for a pension in 1818. By 1820, Penelope Williamson draws land in the land lottery as a widow. In 1826 a guardian is appointed for Asa (15) and Byrd (12 and goes by Byrd Adams his whole life) whom I assume to be Mathias as a 50-60 year old female appears on the 1830 census with Mathias and his family where there was not one before. By 1850 Penelope Adams name appears on census with Mathias' family. She is 80 and from VA.She doesn't appear on the next census in 1860. The connection of Penelope with her children and Lemuel and Byrd seem solid. The father of her first four children in not. It is plausible because John's age is right and his burial place is like that of other Adams. I have emailed the person whose family tree shows the name of John Adams and his cause of death. If I hear from this person, I will let you know. Haven't found Penelope's gravestone or his ---yet. Wish I could find her maiden name. Hope this helps. I am a descendant of Mathias Adams through his son Robert R. Adams and his daughter Annie Adams Keen in Ga.
