Good Day! I am trying to verify the accuracy of some information I have collected on my ancestors.I’m hoping someone can help. 1st Catherine Morton: She married James Morton… both from Scotland.I believe her maiden name is Adams. In 1845, Catherine and James had a son: William. James must have passed away before 1872, because Catherine and her future daughter in law, Jane Burns, went to the United States together to live with William.According to the records I have, James did not immigrate to the US. If you know or have any information on Catherine (Adams) Morton from Scotland, please let me know.
2nd Jane Burns and Grace Douglasfrom Scotland Grace (Douglas) Burns was the mother of Jane Burns.I’m trying to get information on Grace (Douglas) Burns. Her husband’s 1st initial was an “A” (if the record I found is accurate). Jane Burns was born in February of 1848 in Scotland. She immigrated to the United States in 1872.According to info I found on Familysearch.org, she and William Morton got married in Manhattan, NY on May 17, 1872. (If I have the correct Jane), she and William moved to Thomaston, Ct. Jane and William had four children: Douglas, Francis?, Grace (my g-gma), and William. ***The interesting thing is that a 29yr old girl by the name of Maria Burns lived as a Non-Family Member in the household of her future son-in-law’s father’s house.I think that perhaps they may have had a family connection… I’m trying to get any information possible on any of these women. If you know or can verify anything, I would appreciate it greatly.According to my grandfather, we are supposedly related to the Clan of the Black Douglas’s in some way.I’m trying to find out if this is true, and if so… how? I will be eternally grateful to anybody who can help.Thank you!:)
