OK, I don't mind posting here. I just didn't think everyone would be interested in my travel plans.
As I mentioned I am descended through James' son George as follows...
George (1754-1809) James Barden (1796-1862) Lafayette Washington (1836-1883) Joshua Miles (1860-1938) Mary Elizabeth (1890-1961) Leona B. Perry (1910-1981) Alma J. Wilson (1937-2007) Peri (1958-)
I have a cousin who lives in Virginia which I have plans to visit Oct. 27-Nov 7 this year. Our goal is to try to find information that might tell us who James' father was.
My cousin believes that he has determined the area which included the land mentioned in James' will.It was sold to James Collins.250 acres adjourning Abraham Eheart, Elijah Harvey, Churchill Gibbs & John Walker.Sale recorded Madison Co., VA 22 March 1804.
We will be visiting the courthouses in Culpeper & Madison Counties. And will also be looking for a marriage record for James and Elizabeth.I only know that they were married abt 1852.
We will then be traveling to Elbert County Georgia where the family relocated. We will be visiting the courthouse and the cemeteries near Ruckersville.
Lastly I will be traveling to the Fort Delaware prison where James' gr. grandsons, Tinsley & Lafayette Alexander, were held during the Civil War.Tinsley died there early in 1864 and was buried at Finns Point Cemetery.
We would very much appreciate any information which you can share with us that might help in our search for James' father.
