There is no will for Willoughby Adams. There is a reference to one in a deed from Ezekiel Adams deeding land to his brother Abraham Adams that his father Willoughby gave to him in Willoughby's will. The will was obviously recorded in the Pitt County, NC courthouse. This courthouse burned down on several occasions. His will does not exist.
In order to confirm your suspicions, I would suggest that if you have an Adams male in your line, ask him to submit a DNA sample. You can find out how to do this at http://www.familytreedna.com/http://www.familytreedna.com/This particular line of Adams' has a unique characteristic in the DYS 439 allele. It is a red "X" where all other Adams men have a number.
My brother gave his DNA and made the connection for us.We connect through his son Ezekiel. There are now 197 Adams men who have given their DNA (My brother was No. 30.) There are currently 10 Adams connections to this line.We would love to make it 11.
