Me again.I see that you are descended from Thomas Burton Adams, son of William and Sara Head.I did a lot of work several years ago with John K. Adams, until he passed away.He was descended from William and his first wife Catherine Mansfield. Our common ancestor is James Adams, Jr. who came to GA from VA.
Back to your Hatten question. If you look at that line as posted on most web sites (Ancestry.com), most people have mindlessly copied from other people. They show Robert who died in Martins Hundred. That he had a son William who died in 1680.And William had a son Robert born c.1690.That is 10 years after his "father" William died.As you have seen and will see, it is impossible to get all of the garbage genealogy out of the system.Everyone is too anxious to fill in their tree, right or wrong.
It is certainly possible that our Robert Adams of Goochland who married Mourning (probably Lewis), is descended from the Hatten line and from the named Robert who was a Burgess. But there is no proof.Keep beating the bushes and maybe something will turn up.
So far, the DNA does not get us back to any European ancestor. We are certainly closer DNA matches to the English Adams than we are to any Hatten's DNA that I have seen.
I am glad to see another person working on our Robert of Goochland line.We need a lot of help.
If you contact me, I will forward you some work that others have done on possible solutions to the line.
